The AEMC 275HVD (2131.12) Non-Contact High Voltage Detector is designed to detect the presence of high voltage without physical contact. This unit is not a measuring instrument, but rather a product designed to warn the user of the presence of voltage in a particular work site.
This device empowers operators to pinpoint potential hazards with precision. An internal sensor is designed to detect the radiated electrical field present in energized conductors. The radiated electrical field increases with the line voltage but decreases with distance and shielding. The 275HVD (2131.12) offers eight voltage range settings which correspond to internal field sensitivity settings.
Featuring an 8-position rotary switch for detection range selection, this detector offers unparalleled sensitivity. As the sensor is moved closer to the voltage carrying conductor, the sensor head picks up the radiated electric field. Once the threshold is reached, the buzzer sounds and a bright red warning light alerts the operator of live conductors. The lower the setting, the greater the detection distance offered. This sensitivity ensures that the user is always aware of potential hazards.
The 275HVD (2131.12) features an auto-test setting to test the instrument and ensure that all circuitry and annunciators are working properly before operation. The universal spline on the back-end facilitates attachment to any standard hot stick (not included). The unit is powered by three standard Alkaline C-cell batteries and can be used both indoors and outdoors. Crafted from industrial-grade UL-rated polyamide, or Type 66 Nylon, this instrument is built to last.
