The Fisher Labs TW6-KIT Crystal Controlled Frequency Pipe and Cable Locator is a 2-box locator, excellent for blind searches. Unlike other units that use a separate transmitter and receiver, the TW6-KIT can conduct searches of an area to locate an underground pipe or cable when the starting point is unknown. This model must be mounted on a handle to conduct blind searches. Crystal controlled frequency in both transmitter and receiver increases tracing distance. VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) gives a wider range of audio signal to indicate the presence of metal. Even after the meter pegs, the audio signal goes much higher in pitch and volume. Noise canceling circuitry eliminates power line interference.

The TW6-KIT offers conductive and inductive modes of tracing. Conductive tracing is the preferred method for tracing because the transmitter makes a direct physical hook-up with the line to be traced. Tracing distances are increased 25-50% over the inductive method. Inductive locating is preferred when the starting point is unknown or not compatible with conductive tracing.

The included stereo headphones preserve the battery life of the TW6-KIT and prevents the sounds from annoying bystanders. They also allow the user to hear subtle changes in the sound more clearly, particularly if searching in a noisy location. TW6-KIT includes a hard carrying case for protection in transit, as well as a 3-piece handle kit.
