Option 001 provides a Burst Control. This is essentially a counter which is loaded with numbers from the from panel thumbwheel switches. When a burst is started, pulses from the rate generator decrement the counter until it is empoty. This condition (all zeroes) is deetected and generates a BURST COMPLETE signal which disables the rate generator.
