The Practical Instrument Electronics (PIE) PIE 901 Wireless Diagnostic Calibrator is compact, accurate, and easy to use. With this calibrator, the user can check, calibrate, and measure all current and voltage signal instruments in a 4 to 20 milliamp DC loop. The display is easy to read with the full-color backlight view which illuminates even in darker areas. The calibrator can either be recharged via rechargeable batteries (not included) or easily replaced with a set of 'AA' alkaline batteries.

Loop problems on the calibrator can easily be found in which the patented Loop Diagnostic Technology quickly diagnoses ground fault and current leakage. Recorders, digital indicators, stroke valves, or any instrument that gets their input from a 4 to 20 mA loop can be easily calibrated. Any value can easily and quickly set to within 0.001 mA with the adjustable digital potentiometer 'DIAL' or use the preset of 4.000 mA (0.00%) and 20.000 mA (100.00%) EZ-CHECK settings. The automatic output stepping and ramping allows the user to press and hold the dial to automatically step from 4 to 20 in 2, 3, or 5 steps. A continuous ramp can be chosen instead as well.

In place of a 2-wire transmitter, the PIE 901 can be used to check loop wiring and receivers with loop power from 2 to 60V DC. Controller outputs can be checked and milliamp signal anywhere in the loop can be easily measured. The PIE 901 measures 0.000 to 24.000 mA signals with greater accuracy than standard multimeters. Using the internal batteries and internal switching supply, the PIE 901 outputs 24V DC to power any device in a process loop. While this occurs, the mA output of a 2-wire transmitter and other loop devices can be simultaneously measured as well. HART transmitters can be easily powered with the built-in 250 ohm resistor simplifying hookups with communicators.

Ideal for calibrating 1 to 5V inputs on recorders and PLCs, the PIE 901 can generate 0.000 to 22.500V DC and measures from -60.000 to +60.000V DC with 0.001V resolution. The PIE 901 allows for the user to check loop power supplies, I'V converters, and 1 to 5V signals which makes a multimeter for checking process signals not necessary.

The PIE 901 is capable of easily measuring pressure with a plug-in pressure module (not included). Bluetooth connectivity is possible with the pressure models. The dual-display of milliamp and pressure allows for easy calibration of I/P, P/I, gauges, or other pressure instruments with either loop power or by using the PIE 901's internal 24V supply. By adding a hand pump (not included) or tubing kit (not included), a complete pressure calibration system can be formed.
