The Tektronix TICP050 TICP Series IsoVu Isolated Current Probe is designed specifically for measuring the voltage across current shunts. In combination with precision shunt resistors or current viewing resistors, the TICP probe delivers exceptional bandwidth, noise rejection, accuracy, and ease of use even in the presence of fast-changing common mode voltages that occur on floating devices in power circuits.

The TICP050 model features a 500 MHz bandwidth and is compatible with the Tektronix 4, 5, and 6 Series Mixed Signal Oscilloscopes, including the B models.

Isolation Enables Floating Measurements and Exceptionally Low Noise

The IsoVu Isolated Current Probe enables engineers to make accurate dynamic current measurements on oscilloscopes and to go beyond traditional limits.

Unlike current transformers, Rogowski coils, or Hall effect current probes, the TICP current probe enables measurements from DC to hundreds of MHz when paired with high-performances shunts or CVRs (Current Viewing Resistors). Complete galvanic isolation between the probe tip and oscilloscope eliminates ground loops and enables very high common mode rejection with a common mode voltage rating of CAT II 1000V, pollution degree 2. Low attenuation and low input impedance are both designed to limit the noise contribution when measuring low voltages across shunts. In a 1x configuration, the probe measures ±0.5V range and the 50Ω input offers extremely low noise of less than 150 µVRMS at 1 GHz, which is ideal for measuring low voltage drops on current shunts.

Different attenuation tips are available in order to extend the differential voltage range. Depending upon the shunt used, this probe can perform current measurements from microamperes (µA) for low-power mobile design, to hundreds of amperes for industrial and mobility systems. Equipped with MMCX and SMA tips, the probe ensures proper grounding and shielding which are both crucial for minimizing noise and ground loops for accurate current measurements.
