The Ideal 62-144 Tone and Probe Wire Identifier can be used to identify or trace a cable by sending an analog tone signal on de-energized copper conductors from one end of a cable to the other. The tone generator can generate a single analog alternating warble tone. It also features 2 alligator clips for direct copper connections or unterminated cables. The tone generator also features a RJ11 plug for direct connection to voice and most standard RJ45 jacks.

The Ideal 62-144 features an amplifier probe that is used to make the tone signal audible at the other end of the cable, or along the path of an exposed cable, allowing identification and location of the cable under tone. The amplifier probe is designed to identify and trace wires or cables within a group without damaging the insulation. This kit includes the core features and functionality to trace cables for users who occasionally troubleshoot and locate cables and are looking for a cost-effective, easy-to-use basic unit. Users of the Ideal 62-144 are provided with 9V batteries included in the kit.
