The Megger PVK350 (1014-805) Photovoltaic Test Kit offers the additional equipment in the form of the PVM210 Solar Irradiance Meter, DCM1500S AC/DC Solar Clamp Meter, and a range of specialist PV test leads that are all supplied in a single protective hard carrying case.
PVM210 Solar Irradiance Meter
The Megger PVM210 (1002-548) Solar Irradiance Meter provides the solar and photovoltaic engineer with a compact and easy-to-use instrument. Single-handed operation is possible due to the solar detector and meter being housed in one neat unit. This compact housing is ideal when using the instrument on a sloping roof or at the top of a ladder.
With the easy-to-read display and measurement HOLD feature, the meter gives fast and accurate readings of solar power for the user to initially choose an optimal position for the photovoltaic panel. In addition, the meter can provide the vital measurement for the calculation of short circuit current in conjunction with a suitable ammeter (not included) to verify the stated short circuit current provided by the manufacturer of the panel.
In addition to W/m² measurements, a selectable British Thermal Unit (BTU) measurement range is also featured. To prolong battery life, the PVM210 features an auto power-off function. On the rear of the meter is a universal camera thread that allows mounting of the instrument for precise readings if required.
DCM1500S AC/DC Solar Clamp Meter
The Megger DCM1500S (1013-357) AC/DC Solar Clamp Meter is ideal for use in the installation, maintenance, monitoring, and testing of photovoltaic systems as well as standard AC or DC electrical equipment. This meter is capable of measuring up to 2000V DC and 1500V AC, using the PVHV Leads, as well as up to 1500A AC or DC. In addition the voltage and current measurements, the DCM1500S has the ability to measure resistance, diode, capacitance, temperature, and frequency.
The DCM1500S is designed to be used on electrical systems or equipment and includes solar or photovoltaic installations where there is a need to measure current, volts, resistance, and frequency. The instrument is intended for use while installing, maintaining, fault-finding, or monitoring those systems. The tactile barrier below the jaws of the instrument ensures a safe working distance for the operator's hand when measuring current on live uninsulated conductors, although additional personal protection must still be used. The DC current measurement can also be used in applications including battery monitoring, automotive, charging and load circuits, electric vehicle servicing, lift maintenance, UPS commissioning, servicing, and maintenance. Also included are applications involving electro-plating plants and welding equipment servicing as well as power generation from solar panels and wind turbines.
The large, clear backlit display and automatic torch within the jaw can assist the user in poorly lit areas. The smart DATA HOLD expands the standard HOLD function by giving the operator an audible warning if the 'held' reading increases by 50 counts or above. The MIN/MAX HOLD provides the user with the ability to measure the maximum and minimum values over a period of time with each value selectable in turn. Other features include a High Frequency Rejection Filter, inrush current measurement, internal data logging, a non-contact volt seek mode, and manual DC Amp zeroing. The DCM1500S is safety rated to IEC 61010-1, IEC/EN61010-2-033 CAT IV 600V, and CAT III 1000V.
Using the Megger Link app, the measurement value can be remotely monitored on a smart device using the built-in Bluetooth communication. This connectivity gives a live trend graph and offers the ability to sample and log the values for later analysis.
Test Leads, Connectors, and Adapters
The PVK350 includes a range of specialist PV test leads for complete testing of solar installations. The kit includes the PVHV1 4 millimeter Connection Test Lead Set and PVHV2 PV Test Lead Set for high voltage testing. Additionally, a standard 4 millimeter to PV connector lead set is provided together with a PV connector adapter lead set for older panel styles. The PVHV1 and PVHV2 are designed for use on circuits not directly connected to the mains supply.
