The TREND Networks R240-LSIV FiberMASTER Quad Wavelength Light Source offers size, simplicity, and value without any compromises. Due to the small size, the instrument is easy to carry and operate while the ruggedized housing aids in protecting the instrument. The simplified setup options makes the instrument easy to use, saving users time spent on training and reducing the likelihood of errors. This instrument enables cable installers to get the dependable test results needed, while saving users thousands of dollars.
The R240-LSIV is configured to include LC connectors, a video probe port, and VFL.
The R240-LSIV can be used to measure attenuation in multimode or single-mode cabling. The instrument supports the R240-VIP FiberMASTER Video Inspection Probe (not included) to capture images of the connector on each end of the cabling. When paired with the user's OTDR, the OTDR can be used to directly measure cable attenuation or to measure the output power of optical equipment for troubleshooting.
The Visual Fault Locator (VFL) emits visible red light at the 650 nm wavelength. The intended function is to allow an operator to identify the exact location of a break, micro bend, or other discontinuity in a fiber optic cable. As the radiation is visible, light emanating from a break or micro bend enables the user to locate the exact position of a fault even at very short distances that would not be detectable by conventional means such as an OTDR. This is also useful for identifying a particular fiber in a cable by exciting the fiber to be located with visible radiation.
